Whose Hand is on the Throttle?

By Travis W Keiler

Who is in control of your life? Is it you? Or is it God? To those addicted, they are ruled by dependency, compulsions, and overwhelming emotions. One of the first things a person who is trying to get over their life-controlling issues will do is talk about resentment.

By definition, resentment is a negative reaction to being mistreated. The addicted mind stores up anger over past emotions and these old thoughts, over time, change so much till it eventually makes the addict the victim, even if they are not. Victim mentality, stored-up Anger, and hurt feelings produce absolutely nothing good for anyone.

Anger over the past only hurts the individual who won’t surrender that emotion to God and move on. Even though it’s all they say they want… they will sit in that self-pity… this is obviously a tool the enemy uses to keep people down… they harbor negative feelings towards a loving God for their emotional scars… when God wants to give them strength! He wants to heal them and give them the wisdom to work through the current as well as past pain!

James 1:19-21
'My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. '

Are you letting your anger accelerate you forward or will you take you hand off the throttle and let God guide and heal you?
